4estita baba marta – Happy Baba Marta
On the 1st of March in Bulgaria, people celebrate Baba Marta‘s day and with the exchange and wearing of martenitsi. They are given to loved ones, friends, and those people to whom one feels close. Bracelets are worn until spring comes and at that moment we have to hang it on a blossoming tree (and make a wish). It symbolizes new life, health, fertility…how beautiful it is to share this tradition with friends&family and to see that it goes across borders!
